On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its foundation, we go over a number of milestones in the history of Iris Ceramica.

Iris Ceramica is 50
1961 - 2011, Iris Ceramica is celebrating 50 years in business! We go over some of the milestones in 50 years of ongoing research and innovation in the ceramics industry.

In the twenty years between 1971 and 1991 the company made important progress in administration and production, including production of frostproof 1200° single-fired tiles, introduction of thin tiles in large sizes and the start of production of "semigres" tiles.

In the last decade of the 20th century the company earned some important certifications:
ISO 9001 certification (1998)
ISO 14001 certification (2000)
EMAS certification (2001)
and the principal milestones of the decade were:
in 1998, the birth of the FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti division
in 2001, Romano Minozzi founded Eiffelgres.

The new millennium opened with an important acknowledgement: Iris Ceramica received the 2000 Innovation Award. The next decade was marked by a whole series of goals achieved and new beginnings.

"Spazio FMG per l'architettura" opened in Milan in 2008 but it was in 2010 that the company's showroom became Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti's gallery of architecture and interior design.

Under the guidance of Graziano Verdi, Iris Ceramica CEO since 2009, the innovative, revolutionary Active Clean Air and Antibacterial Ceramic™ system gave ceramics an active role to play in reducing indoor and outdoor pollution. Initiatives focusing on ACTIVE were held throughout the year 2010, culminating in the architecture symposium held in the Italian Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo, participation in the Venice Biennale and publication in the 2010 ADI DESIGN INDEX.

New achievements and new investments in the future await the Iris group in 2011, starting with the new showroom that has been announced in Lockhart Road, the heart of Hong Kong's design district.
