Just click on the link at the end of the article to find yourself at the entrance of the HKDI Gallery in Hong Kong and, until April 3, 2022, visit the free online exhibition entitled "Zaha Hadid Architects: Vertical Urbanism". An immersive journey through some of the Zaha Hadid Architects studio's innovative tower designs created in different parts of the world, presented and narrated through technical drawings, models, videos and virtual reality experiences. Moving around the gallery is simple and intuitive and the visit can develop in different ways: through an introductory panoramic video, in 3D mode, by viewing the floor plan or the axonometric view of the exhibition spaces. You can switch from one mode to another at any time and when you are close to specific objects, indicated by icons, it is possible to view the additional multimedia content available.
The exhibition is part of the " Essence of Design" programme created by the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) (Lee Wai Lee), in collaboration with the HKDI Gallery. Digital exhibitions on contemporary design that allow a wider audience to discover, in detail, architectural projects and models, as well as to experiment with new ways of using multimedia. In particular the "Zaha Hadid Architects: Vertical Urbanism" virtual exhibition was created specifically for the Institutes and highlights three particular aspects of the architectural firm's work: the research of the ZHA CODE division, the studio's internal research group in Computation & Design; the projects designed by Zaha Hadid Architects in different cities around the world that go beyond the existing paradigm of tower design and become "vertical urban architecture"; and finally, the main projects carried out by the studio in Hong Kong, both built and not built, such as the Morpheus Hotel at City of Dreams built in Macao and inaugurated in 2018, The Henderson Tower currently under construction in Hong Kong and, also in Hong Kong, The Peak Club (1982-1983), the design of a club never built on the hills of the metropolis, but considered the breakthrough project that earned architect Zaha Hadid international fame.
