We’ve decided to add something new for 2015. Every Friday, Floornature will include a brief overview of the most interesting news and new architecture published on the portal during the week.

The Best of week

A news item focusing on Selgas Cano, the first Spanish architecture practice appointed to design the temporary pavilion of the Serpentine Gallery closed 2014, and we are opening 2015 with a project by Zaha Hadid, the very first architect to design the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, 15 years ago. In Floornature we present one of the most recent projects by Zaha Hadid Architects, the new headquarters of Bee'ah in Sharjah, UAE.

During the week we covered interior design projects such as the Brioni flagship store in Via Gesù 4, part of Milan’s famous fashion quadrilateral, created by Park Associati in the company’s old tailoring shop and offices. Sticking to the theme of refurbishments, in Belgium, an old, 17th-century barn was converted into a restaurant by the architects from Architectenbureau Dries Bonamie and AnotherOffice. On the banks of Lake Maggiore in Meina, the outbuilding of a historical villa – another old barn, in turn used as a garage – has been turned into a separate, three-level guesthouse by architect, Cristina Meschi.

And we conclude with the project by light artist Gerry Hofstetterfor for The Art of Attentiveness” campaign, focusing attention on the issue of the image of architecture, a theme dear to the hearts of the Floornature team, which was developed in the recently published book, “Architecture on the web. A Critical Approach to Communication” edited by Paolo Schianchi, and which Floornature has kept a close eye on, contributing to the Communication strategy for architects conference that was held in Venice on 4 December.
