BIG wins competition for the new Vltava Philharmonic Hall Prague

Architecture firm BIG has won the international design competition for the Vltava Philharmonic Hall in Prague. Zone of Utopia + Mathieu Forest Architecte designs Ice Cubes Xinxiang Cultural Tourism Centre

The new Xinxiang tourist and cultural centre designed by the Zone of Utopia and Mathieu Forest Architecte studios is a new landmark for the city in China. The iconic building has been conceived as an out-of-scale sculpture that resembles a huge mountain of ice cubes, a direct and evocative reminder of the winter sports to which the entire tourist district will be dedicated and that will also include a indoor ski slope.

Adjaye Associates designs new Library and Events Centre in Winter Park, Florida

On December 10 and 11, 2021, before local authorities and architect David Adjaye, the inauguration of the new library and events centre designed by the Adjaye Associates architecture firm took place. Built in the northwest corner of the Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Florida, the new building is part of a larger revitalisation programme for the park and has been designed to help grow and improve the local community.

From NZZ to JED, a redevelopment project by Evolution Design

Swiss studio Evolution Design has brought new life to an abandoned printer’s shop in Schlieren. JED is the name of the new multifunctional centre which, following the trend toward shared workspaces, hosts high-tech start-ups along with a series of complementary services such as leisure and dining facilities and event rooms. The former premises of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) have, thanks to the work of Evolution Design and Swiss Prime Site, become JED: Join, Explore, Dare.

Fosbury Architecture designs Urban Centre at the Pecci Centre in Prato, Italy

On November 20 the new Urban Centre designed by the Fosbury Architecture collective was inaugurated inside the Luigi Pecci Centre for Contemporary Art in Prato, Italy. A project that received strong support from the Municipality of Prato and the Fondazione per le Arti Contemporanee in Toscana. The new Urban Centre is a permanent laboratory and an observatory on urban transformations, but also a theatre, a space for immersive installations, a thriving place that will open up the museum to a more active participation on the part of citizens and will contribute to the city’s cultural landscape.
