The new building assigns strategic importance in the area to the Jaurès school campus, allowing it to play an important urban and architectural role in a setting complicated by the presence of a number of period buildings of different types and styles.

Longgang Cultural Centre by Mecanoo

Dutch firm Mecanoo has completed the construction of a large cultural centre in the city of Shenzhen in China. It is a complex of four buildings with sloping façades that play with full and empty spaces to great dramatic effect, creating public spaces of transit and gathering capable of adjusting the flow of people. They also provide cutout views of the skyscrapers in the nearby commercial district.
