The 17th edition of the Premio Architettura Città di Oderzo or PAO award, presented since 1997 to promote quality architecture with a special focus on the territory of the Italian regions of the Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia, is drawing to a close. The judges have looked at 111 submissions in three sections and announced the ten finalists, from which the winner of the 2021 edition will be selected in the month of April.

The 17th Premio Architettura Città di Oderzo award

The judges of the 17th Premio Architettura Città di Oderzo award have announced the ten finalists from whom the winner of the 2021 edition will be selected in April. This heterogeneous group includes projects varying widely in terms of setting, function and client, from homes to schools, from mountain shelters to wineries, from industrial buildings to exhibition centres, public spaces in historic settings and landscape installations. Different types of projects, set in equally different Italian landscapes, as the award is primarily intended for projects built in the regions of the Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia, which include not only big cities and their suburbs but provincial towns and small villages, in a variety of natural landscapes ranging from Alpine peaks to valleys, from the plains to the coast.

The ten finalists in the 17th edition of the Premio Architettura Città di Oderzo are:
ciAsa Aqua Bad Cortina, in San Vigilio di Marebbe (Trentino Alto Adige) by Pedevilla Architects.
A sustainable home built in the enchanting natural setting of the Dolomites in the Badia Valley. The architects built the home’s three above-ground levels out of wood from the nearby forests destroyed by high winds on 30 October 2018.
Eraldo Hub, Ceggia (Veneto), by Parisotto + Formenton.
A new showroom for a fashion brand, preserving and enhancing the existing layout and building dialogue between the three new volumes and the original building.
House L, Casies Valley (Trentino Alto Adige), by Plasma Studio.
A dynamic Alpine home open to the landscape, with an L-shaped floor plan designed to preserve the big old white fir tree in the middle of the lot.
Pradidali Mountain Shelter, Pale di San Martino (Trentino Alto Adige), by Mimeus Architettura.
A renovation project with a focus on local forms and materials, a contemporary twist on the theme of the mountain shelter located at an altitude of over 2,200 m near Rifugio Predidali.
New Hotel Pacherhof winery, Novacella-Varna (Trentino Alto Adige), by Bergmeisterwolf.
Renovation and expansion of a historic winery.
Cloister of San Pietro, Reggio Emilia (Emilia Romagna), by ZAA Zamboni Associati Architettura.
A restoration and urban regeneration project transforming an ancient monastery into an innovative cultural centre in the heart of the city.
Nursery school, Sluderno (Trentino Alto Adige), by Roland Baldi Architects.
A sustainable school in an architectural space designed to trigger children’s curiosity and interest.
Palaluxottica - Congress and Exhibition Centre, Agordo (Veneto), by Studio Botter + Studio Bressan.
A new congress centre inspired by the traditional forms and materials of local rural constructions.
Restoration of the Casino di Bersaglio, Campitello di Fassa (Trentino Alto Adige), by Weber+Winterle Architetti.
The original building’s spirit and all its parts in good condition are restored, replacing compromised parts with minimal construction work.
