The Futurecraft exhibition, the first event in the Tomorrow by design trilogy organised by SpazioFMG, Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti’s gallery in Milan, was a very popular event. In the Tomorrow by Designseries SpazioFMG presents ideas and projects that go beyond the traditional confines of built architecture, as SpazioFMG scientific director Luca Molinari explained during the course of the evening.
The exhibition focusing on Carlo Ratti, architect, engineer, researcher, and, most recently, curator and designer of the Future Food District Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015, is in line with the multidisciplinary approach of the series.
The futuristic and perfectly functional objects designed by Carlo Ratti in the course of his career and featured in the exhibition (MIT Senseable City Laboratory, Carlo Ratti Associati, Superpedestrian and Makr Shakr) have attracted public attention: from a plotter capable of writing (and erasing) vertically to a reconfigurable table and chair designed for Cassina and a bicycle wheel that explains how the cyclist can make the most of the pedal stroke.
Futurcraft presents visitors to SpazioFMG with a number of scenarios in which architecture, design and environment are integrated with advanced digital technologies. SpazioFMG becomes “a research laboratory bringing together the brightest proposals for designing the future of the planet” (Luca Molinari).
