- Lead up to the awards ceremony of the NEXT LANDMARK contest.
At 5 pm on 28th August, the two project winners, Kevin Erickson with “Rope Pavilion” in the First Work category and Elisa Minari with “Habitacao para todos” in the Research category, plus the five projects that won special mentions and a selection of the forty best proposals, will feature in the Next Landmark event being held in Venice during the preview to the 13th Architecture Biennial.
The ceremony will take place in an old, deconsecrated church near the Giardini delle Biennale.
Make that your great start to the day, and top it off with the rising international architecture stars of NEXT LANDMARK.Pritzker Prize Laureate Wang Shu of Amateur Architecture (China), Rahul Mehrotra of RMA architects (India) and Francine Houben of Mecanoo (the Netherlands) will be introduced by Pippo Ciorra, architecture curator of MAXXI and commented by Ole Bouman, director of NAI and curator of the Netherlands pavilion for the 2012 Architecture Biennial of Venice. The informal discussion centres on a comparison of design cultures in the great countries of Eastern Asia and Europe.In the run-up to the afternoon event, why not take advantage of the day to enjoy another initiative relating to the future of architecture: Greenhouse Talk, is organised by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in collaboration with MAXXI - Museum of XXI Century Arts of Rome and with the Dutch Architecture Institute (NAI) of Rotterdam; it will be hosted in Serra dei Giardini, Venice at 9-11 am and provides a forum to discuss accessibility, the growing demand for housing, public space and the urban spread at the global level.
