Anyone who follows Livegreenblog knows how partial we are to Street Art, which we often blog about - ranging from the murals of our Spanish friends from Boa Mistura to the activities of Outings and the works of French artist Levalet.
Italy too can lay claim to some very fine Street Art, particularly in the capital where a photography exhibition of this artistic genre is being held to explore the complex scene that mixes non-conformism, institutionalisation and an alternative dimension, depending on its location.

At the Carlo Bilotti Museum, in the Orangery of Villa Borghese the exhibition “URBS PICTA, la Street Art a Roma” shares the photography reportage of Mimmo Frassineti, founder of A.G.F. who used his camera and his artistic eye to immortalise the murals around the city. Not everyone gets to see these artworks, because their location may not be accessible or because they no longer exist, precisely due to their ephemeral nature marked by demolitions, refurbishments, bad weather or new artwork.

Mimmo Frassineti proposes a visual account that brings out not only the profusion of Street Art but also of its many styles and content, with a common thread running through everything - the fact that the audience is a random group of citizens, not selected. In this case, they are the people who wander around the streets of Rome.

In the exhibition, you get the feeling that Street Art is not just art to colour the urban backdrop, it's a tool to interpret and get a better understanding of the city's fabric and its dynamics.
