Vereda, a restaurant for sustainable conviviality
A SPACE ABOUT (ASA), the design studio founded by Laura Blanch and Noa Massanet, transformed a small empty shopfront into Vereda bar and restaurant. ASA’s spatial vision gives material form to the culinary concept of Vereda’s chef and owner, creating an authentic space appropriate for the community of Barcelona’s Eixample district.

“Local Cultures in Global Settings” is an international contest promoted by the Iris Ceramica Group and its associated Foundation and organised by UAE Modern, drawing attention to creative contributions arising out of the interaction between expressions of identity and universalistic culture. We talked about it with Massimo Imparato, who, with Monica Mazzolani, co-founded UAE Modern, the cultural hub presenting the series of events accompanying the competition.

The Berlin-based Gonzalez Haase AAS architecture firm has designed the second location of Aera, a bakery specialising in gluten-free products that also includes a café area. All in an intense lapis lazuli blue, overlooking the central Rosenthaler Platz square in Berlin.

Architectural storytelling by Heliotrope Architects in NYC
Seattle-based Heliotrope Architects has designed the renovation of the Filson NYC Flagship Store in mid-town Manhattan. It all originated with the conversion of a mattress shop that now houses an old barn, the central element in the architectural storytelling of the new shop.
