La Brèche, a private refuge designed by Canadian architects _naturhumaine

La Brèche is a private refuge designed by _naturehumaine in front of Mount Orford, in Montréal’s Eastern Townships. The building features contemporary details and takes the form of a classic house with a gabled roof, but made up of two similar volumes separated by a breach: a gap a couple of metres wide determining the shape and the name, and therefore the identity, of the project as a whole.

The winners of the AIA New York Design Awards 2022

AIA New York has announced the winners of the 2022 Design Awards. Divided into four categories – Architecture, Interior, Projects and Urban Design – and selected by an independent jury, the 25 winners are projects carried out in the city of New York or in other parts of the world by New York-based architects. The local AIA New York chapter, in fact, is the oldest and largest section of the American Institute of Architects. Founded in 1857, it includes 5500 practicing architects, associated professionals, students and public members dedicated to architecture and design.

Overlooking the quiet waters of Florida’s Bay Harbor Islands, in the United States, SDH Architects built a luxurious private villa on two levels totalling 746 square metres of floor space, with a large garden, a terrace, a pool and a private wharf. The villa is built in a contemporary minimalist style despite the variety of different materials and colours, all in neutral hues.

KCAP and Zecc Architecten design new Kade Noord residential complex in Zutphen

Dutch architectural firms KCAP and Zecc Architecten have completed the design for a new Kade Noord residential urbanisation in the Noorderhaven Zutphen development area, a town located about 30 km north-east of Arnhem. This sustainable district, conceived from the reconversion of an industrial area, develops around a large green courtyard inspired by the local landscape.
