Feldman Architecture’s Surf House

California studio Feldman Architecture recently released the pictures of Surf House, a private villa on the sea in Santa Cruz, built in a discrete style taking great care to minimise environmental impact, using reclaimed wood for all the indoor and outdoor cladding. The large, well-lit spaces, the warm colour of Monterey cypress wood, the ocean view and the surfboards in the boathouse make Feldman Architecture’s Surf House the perfect example of luxurious “California dreaming”.

Naturehumaine’s Memphremagog Lake House

At the end of 2020 Canadian architectural studio Naturehumaine completed a big private home in Cantons de l'Est on the shore of Lake Mamphremagog in Québec. The home is inspired by the nearby abbey of St. Benoit-du-Lac in various ways, including the grey colour of the external cladding and the natural lighting, most of which comes from above. Three different volumes contain the living room, bedroom area, and garage/workshop. The big home is covered and decorated with quality materials and furnishings in a contemporary style that ensures energy efficiency.

Anonymous on the outside, the house in Kyoto by Joe Chikamori (07BEACH studio) features welcoming interiors designed around a ficus benjamina plant. The spaces in the home, all of which custom-made in wood, overlook a brightly lit atrium or plaza and feature lightweight solutions which distinguish the flows of everyday life without separating them.

Block G, a recently completed mixed-use building designed by the Paris studios of Moussafir Architectes & Nicolas Hugoo Architecture, is part of a major urban regeneration plan known as Chapelle International, currently underway in the 18th arrondissement in northeast Paris. The new building contains a number of lodgings built on the basis of the innovative SOHO, or Small Office Home Office, concept.

SOM presents plans for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Village

The Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Village for the 25th Winter Olympics will be designed by SOM Skidmore Owings & Merrill, as COIMA SGR and its partners Covivio and Prada Holding announced on 16 July 2021 at the end of the international design competition. Work on the new Olympic Village, due to become an important centre of interest and activity in the Porta Romana area, will be completed by July 2025.

The winners of the 2021 Next Landmark International Award

The jury of the Next Landmark International AWARD has announced the winners of the tenth international contest promoted by Floornature, the architecture and design magazine published by the Iris Ceramica Group. The Landmark of the Year Award goes to the "Casa en el Bosque" project by architect Moises Morales, co-founder of W.E.Y.E.S Estudio in Mexico. The winner of the Research Award for unbuilt projects developed in an academic context or independently is Regenerated Spaces (間) around Lighthouse by Italian architect Selene Amico.
