Gustafson Guthrie Nichol has won the Cooper-Hewitt’s 2011 National Design award in the landscape architecture section.



PRIZE FOR GUSTAFSON GUTHRIE NICHOL
Gustafson Guthrie Nichol studios, founded by Jennifer Guthrie, Kathryn Gustafson and Shannon Nichol, has won the Cooper-Hewitt’s 2011 National Design Award for landscape architecture.
The judges emphasised the studio?s experience working with complex urban settings and managing to create comfortable spaces in all situations which are capable of hosting both large numbers of people and those in search of contemplative spaces.

The architectural studio has not only won numerous prestigious awards but worked on landscape architecture projects with world-famous studios including Foster+partners, on the Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C.

Key projects include not only the Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard but the famous Lurie Garden in Chicago?s Millennium Park and the new Campus of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle.
