David Chipperfield sums up the theme of the Biennale as follows: “The emphasis of the 2012 Biennale is on what we have in common. Above all, the ambition of Common Ground is to reassert the existence of an architectural culture, made up not just of singular talents but a rich continuity of diverse ideas united [...] in common predicaments and ideals.”
Common Ground will be an exhibition of 58 projects by architects, photographers, artists and academics invited by David Chipperfield and presented in a single exhibition route from the Central Pavilion to the Gardens of the Arsenale, flanked by national pavilions from 55 countries, 5 of which will be represented for the first time (Angola, the Republic of Kosovo, Kuwait, Peru and Turkey).
The Floornature portal offers a great opportunity for young architects who would like to participate actively in the 13th Biennale in Venice.
Floornature has announced an international contest, Next Landmark, for architects who graduated after January 1, 2000, with two categories: First Work and Research. The winners will be Floornature’s guests in Venice, featured at the Next Landmark event to be held on the same dates as the Biennale opening.
