The city of Milan prepares to host Design Week, a whole week of events focusing on Design from April 12 to 17, at the same time as Salone del Mobile. New product presentations and events and initiatives all over the city offer an opportunity to look at a number of projects presented recently in Floornature.

What to see in Milano beyond Design Week

On April 12 through 17 the 55th Salone del Mobile di Milano will be held in Milan’s trade fair centre in Rho.
During Design Week related exhibitions and events will be held all over the city of Milan. The Floornature editorial staff will be at SpazioFMGperl'Architettura with the exhibition “COME IN, WE’RE OPEN”, an unusual installation at Via Bergognone 27 presenting the new floor and wall tile collections designed by Diesel Living with Iris ceramica.
The Iris Ceramica group will also be at Palazzo Clerici presenting SapienStone SMART SLAB, a new material incorporating heating and cooling technology directly in maxi ceramic slabs.
Design Week also offers an opportunity to look back at a number of projects presented recently in Floornature, such as Terrazza Triennale restaurant, designed by OBR (Open Building Research) and built on the panoramic terrace of the Palazzo dell'Arte – Triennale di Milano. Other hospitality projects include Muddica, a bistro serving specialities from Sicily designed by DiDeA architectural studio, and the functional reorganisation and expansion of Hotel Excelsior Gallia designed by architect Marco Piva. Urban projects include the new Darsena or Docks in Milan, a landmark in the city which reopened a year ago, and the cycling and pedestrian bridges designed by architectural studio Lombardini 22 for the redevelopment of the Naviglio Grande and Villoresi Canal towards the Ticino River.
