Architecture joins the battle against the Covid-19 virus
An international team of architects, engineers, doctors, military experts and NGOs has implemented an open-source project for conversion of shipping containers into intensive care units which can be set up rapidly wherever there is a medical emergency, such as Covid-19. The first prototype is currently under construction in Milan, Italy, with contributions by Carlo Ratti Associati and Italo Rota.

Lombardini22 and DEGW design NOW, Oliver Wyman’s new offices in Milan
DEGW, a brand of the Lombardini22 architecture and design Group, designed the project for global consulting firm Oliver Wyman's new offices in Milan. The new spaces offer an innovative work model called desk sharing, which leaves the usual fixed desk layout behind, allowing employees the flexibility of choosing a different workspace everyday.

All the events in SpazioFMG’s The Architects Series now available via streaming
The first 12 events in The Architects Series, the event format created by The Plan magazine for SpazioFMGperl'Architettura, the gallery and showroom of Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti, top brands in the Iris Ceramica Group, are now available online. Each episode is a double event featuring a documentary film offering a behind-the-scenes look at the architectural practice and interviews conducted at SpazioFMG per l'Architettura during meetings with the architects.

Farewell to architect Vittorio Gregotti
In this difficult time under lockdown, Italy says farewell to one of its most important twentieth-century architects and urban planners, Vittorio Gregotti, who passed away on March 15 in Milan. Milan’s Bicocca district and Palermo’s ZEN are among his best-known works, but Gregotti also played an important role as a teacher and above all a promoter of architecture through articles in architecture magazines, above all Casabella, of which he was editor-in-chief for about 15 years.

Piuarch designs an innovative sneakers store in Milan
Architecture firm Piuarch was chosen by the famous Italian sneaker brand P448 to design its first store in Milan. The new store, recently inaugurated in Milan, is an innovative and unconventional space, a project designed with great attention to details and to quality materials.

Mario Cucinella Architects - Two new projects in Tirana and Milan underway
International architecture firm Mario Cucinella Architects recently presented a new project for the city centre of Tirana in Albania: the Ekspozita Building. A mixed-use building characterised by an unusual shape, which seems to embrace a public green space. At the same time, the firm signed an agreement for another important project: the so-called City of Health and Research, a centre of excellence to be built in Sesto San Giovanni, in Milan.

Studio Didea creates the interior design for two offices in Milan and Palermo
Two interior design projects were recently completed in Milan and Palermo by the Studio Didea architecture firm. The projects included the renovation of two apartments now used as offices. The first one, located in a modern building near Piazza del Duomo in Milan, was transformed into the headquarters of a financial consulting firm. The second is a typical residential apartment located in a building in Palermo built in the 1970s and now transformed by the architects into the Studio’s headquarters.

Studio Beretta Associati and Lombardini22 Office building: a story of urban regeneration
Beretta Associati planned the functional conversion of an office building in Milan, an early-twentieth-century building in a prime location between Piazzale Lodi and Via Sannio that originally housed the headquarters of a historic Italian mechanical company which has been repeatedly expanded and transformed over the years. The Lombardini22 Group supplied consulting services for the interior design and plant engineering in Beretta Associati’s recent project.
