La Cabina de la Curiosidad for an original house
It’s intriguing how the name of the project by young architects Marie Combette and Daniel Moreno Flores in Ecuador, La Cueva della Mini Bestia, which translates as The Cave of the Tiny Beast, riffs off the name of their studio. The project involves restoring, or rather building, a small house in Quito for a couple and their dog.

Heatherwick’s EDEN, the studio’s first residential project in Singapore
The architects of Heatherwick Studio have completed their first residential project in Asia. EDEN is a "super-green" skyscraper 104 metres high in Singapore’s historic Newton district inspired by Lee Kuan Yew’s original concept of a "city in a garden". The entire complex contains only 20 apartments featuring crafted details and combining passive climate control with a refined concept of luxury.

Iosa Ghini Associati interior design of the Brickell Flatiron in Miami
Miami’s tallest residential skyscraper, the Brickell Flatiron, has an Italian heart: the interiors of the spacious luxury residences with top quality furnishings and finishes are designed by Italian architect Massimo Iosa Ghini’s studio, Iosa Ghini Associati. The building designed by architect Luis O. Revuelta contains 549 residential units and a spa on the top floor, the 64th, suspended 224 metres above the ground. The building’s curved shapes translate into spacious floor plans for the residences, which include apartments with 1 to 5 bedrooms, penthouses and townhomes.

DROO Architecture revisits the classic London bow window with VI Castle Lane
In the heart of London, between Buckingham Palace and Westminster, British firm DROO Architecture - headed up by architects Michel da Costa Gonçalves and Amrita Mahindroo - has revisited an iconic element of English architecture: the bow window. With residential project VI Castle Lane, the architects have managed to insert a building that openly declares its modernity into a historical and protected context. In doing so, they have garnered the Architecture MasterPrize 2020 for the Residential Architecture - Multi Unit category.

Kirsten Schwalgien, award-winning interior in a historical setting in Barcelona
German interior designer Kirsten Schwalgien has transformed the ground floor of listed local gem Casa Burés—one of the best examples of Modernist architecture in Barcelona’s Eixample district and designed in 1905 by Francesc Berenguer—into a state-of-the-art residential loft. The LoftBuresQ project also won the German Design Award.

Escenario Alterno 02 by Taller General, an adaptive, sustainable project
The Ecuadorian architecture firm Taller General has created a small but far-reaching project in the historic centre of Quito. This adaptive reuse converting a tiny space into a home for one or two people is both economically and environmentally sustainable.
