Steven Holl receives two Design Awards 2013
A double success for architect Steven Holl who will receive two Design Awards: the AIA NY Honor Award and the AIA NY Merit Award, presented by the New York branch of theAmerican Institute of Architects. The designs that received the awards are The Daeyang Gallery and House in Seoul, Korea, andthe Sliced Porosity Block in Chengdu, China.

The design for the "Daeyang Gallery and House" was inspired by a 1967 sketch for a music score by composer Istvan Anhalt and has already received two important awards: theLeaf Emirates Glass Award and theAnnual Design Review Award.
The second design, Sliced Porosity Block, was inspired by a work by Chengdu?s most important poet, Du Fu (713-770). It is a work on an urban scale, a micro-city with public spaces, greenery, stores, homes and hotels. The name derives from the fact that Steven Holl?s volumes are porous and open to the urban fabric.

All the winners of the Design Awards will receive their prizes at the annual ceremony, which will take place in New York on 17th April 2013 and which will be followed by the inauguration of an exhibition of the designs in competition.
