One Central Park “Best Tall Building Worldwide” 2014

The CTBUH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat) presents annual awards to the best tall buildings. In the first round, the judges vote for the Best Tall Building in each region, choosing the best highrises in each of 4 regions of the world: the Americas, the Middle East + Africa, Europe and Asia + Australia.
The “Best Tall Building Worldwide” is then chosen. The winner for 2014 is One Central Park, the highrise designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel in Sydney, which the judges call an example to follow in coming up with a new look for our cities that meets the challenges of today’s environmental requirements.

The tall buildings winning the regional awards in 2014 are:
in the Americas: Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt Federal Building, Portland, USA by Cutler Anderson Architects;
in Asia + Australia, of course, One Central Park, Sydney, Australia, by Ateliers Jean Nouvel;
in the Middle East + Africa, Cayan Tower, Dubai, UAE, by SOM Skidmore, Owings & Merrill;
and in Europe, De Rotterdam, Rotterdam, the Netherlands, by OMA.
