Fuksas, The Cloud, and fashion

Three key images characterise Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas’s project for the New Congress Centre and Hotel built in Rome’s EUR district: The Container, The Cloud and The Blade.

The project’s heart and fulcrum is The Cloud, with its free and apparently unregulated spatial articulation underlined by the fact that it is contained in a regular, well-defined geometric volume.
The Container is a longitudinal glass and steel case enclosing The Cloud, while The Blade is a structure separate from the first two containing the hotel’s 439 rooms.

The steel ribbing of The Cloud will be covered with 15000 square metres of transparent cloth, and will contain an auditorium with related areas such as restaurants. Gattinoni has chosen The Cloud to unveil its Spring/Summer 2014 collection during Alta Roma - Alta Moda.
