The image becoming the messenger of the encyclical LAUDATO SI' of Pope Francis for the Jubilee as a new contribution to the Church's social doctrine that brings humankind face to face with our responsibilities. “The earth is wounded, we need an ecological conversion”, warns Francis in the text that not only targets Catholics but “every person living on this planet”.

What better tool than universally powerful photography to promote this text with burning issues such as pollution, the depletion of natural resources, the rampant exploitation of nature, the loss of biodiversity, the deterioration of quality of life, social decay, and so many other “wounds” festering in our world.

22 December 2015 to 28 February 2016 are the dates of the photography exhibition entitled “SORELLA TERRA La nostra casa comune” (SISTER EARTH. Our common home) promoted by the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital at Palazzo Braschi, also known as the Museum of Rome, welcoming visitors with more than 60 photographs by leading photographers from National Geographic Magazine. The issues covered by the Pope are also the battles fought by National Geographic, which has always been in the front line when it comes to protecting the planet, throwing light on problems, on research, on possible solutions.
