“The genesis of a design is an intimate and creative process. Thoughts, feelings, experiences and location all play an important role in shaping an idea.” This is the opening phrase of the cycle of lectures being held between April and May 2016 in different locations across Pisa.

A logistical choice in line with an open approach not only towards the academic world, but also to professionals and students, who can obtain training credits thanks to accreditation by the Association of Architects in Tuscany (Federazione degli Architetti PPC Toscani) as well as simply to the wider community. Because what we're talking about here in the end is creativity and that's not just a privilege of designers.

World-renowned architects such as Tony Fretton, UK (1 April), Guillermo Vazquez Consuegra, Spain (15 April), Ricardo Bak Gordon, Portugal (29 April) and Baumschlager Eberle, Austria-Switzerland (6 May) will explore some fundamental questions: How does a project begin? How much should the original concept be changed? When should you stop?

The guests will bring the experiences they have collected from all over the world to discuss what drives an architect who is taking the first step in a design, what creativity means in the field of architecture. Important issues that can help to spread and share good architecture with the broader public and not just with specialists.

All of this has come about because a scientific committee composed of students and professors from the Architectural Engineering course of the Engineering School - University of Pisa wanted it and pushed for it.
