La Cabina de la Curiosidad for an original house

It’s intriguing how the name of the project by young architects Marie Combette and Daniel Moreno Flores in Ecuador, La Cueva della Mini Bestia, which translates as The Cave of the Tiny Beast, riffs off the name of their studio. The project involves restoring, or rather building, a small house in Quito for a couple and their dog.

Giuseppe Tortato Architetti’s mountain interior: a chalet in the Alps

In the splendid setting of Aprica, in Valtellina in the Bergamo Alps, the attic of a newly built chalet becomes the perfect refuge for a family that wanted to get away from the chaos of the city of Milan without giving up comfortable living and the possibility of hosting friends. The interior design in this mountain attic is by architect Giuseppe Tortato, who completely altered the original floor plan, adding a loft to make the most of the available space and create a refined, elegant living space.

Maison Koya, living with several generations in touch with nature

Canadian studio Alain Carle Architecte has built a house in Saint-Saveur in the Laurentian Mountains north of Montreal, which blends in perfectly with the surrounding nature and enables the whole family of three generations to live together. Everything is designed to foster dialogue with the context as well as amongst the family, while still maintaining everyone’s individual privacy.

A pair of cabins in the hills of Eastern Washington

The two cabins, designed by Board & Vellum with interiors by Kathleen Glossa from Swivel Interiors are place-specific and detailed in salvaged wood from an old barn in the hills of Eastern Washington. The two cosy structures blend in with the region’s vernacular architecture and in harmony with the landscape.
