The Civic Hotel in Seattle: the past revisited by Wittman Estes
Seattle-based architecture firm Wittman Estes has completed the renovation and modernisation of a hotel originally opened in 1962 for the Century 21 World's Fair in the rapidly transforming South Lake Union neighbourhood of the city. The project also includes furniture designed by the architects specifically to echo the hotel’s mid-century history.

David Adjaye wins the 2021 RIBA Royal Gold Medal
Architect David Adjaye was awarded the 2021 Royal Gold Medal, the highest British award given to a person or group of people who have had a significant influence “either directly or indirectly on the advancement of architecture”. The commission for the 2021 Royal Gold Medal included, among others, architects Dorte Mandrup and Shelley McNamara, winner of the 2020 Royal Gold Medal together with Yvonne Farrell.

NADAAA: Daniels Building at the University of Toronto
The extension of Knox College at One Spadina Crescent in Toronto was the occasion for NADAAA to design a contemporary volume, the Daniels Building, updated in energy sustainability and in dialogue with the neighbourhood. The Daniels Building translates the vertical thrust of the neo-Gothic building.

Renzo Piano exhibition: The Art of Making Buildings
On its 250th anniversary, from 15th September the Royal Academy of Arts will present a large exhibition dedicated to architect Renzo Piano and the projects created by his RPBW studio. It is the first complete exhibition dedicated to the Italian architect to take place in London since 1989.
