Ivrea reopens its doors: Welc-Home to my House 2023
Once again this year, Ivrea - the industrial city of the 20th century and a UNESCO World Heritage Site - opens its doors for visitors to marvel at Olivetti’s architecture, with involvement from local citizens and a media partnership with Floornature. There are two weekends available - 23/24 September and 30 September/1 October - as well as days dedicated to photography and architecture on 22 and 30 September respectively.

Second weekend of architectures open to the public with "Welc-Home to Ivrea"
The enhancement of "Ivrea, Industrial City of the 20th century", UNESCO World Heritage site, continues through the involvement of its citizens. Like the weekend of September 24 to 26, many of the city’s residential, social and production buildings will once again be open to the public on September 30 and on October 1 and 2. All enriched with various talks that explore the themes of rethought, regenerated, restructured architectural works that constitute the most exemplary Italian industrial city of the last century.

WELC-HOME TO MY HOUSE, an exhibition of Olivetti’s architectures in Ivrea
Two weekends dedicated to the architecture and design of the 1900s, set to open its doors to visitors from September 23 to 25 and then again from September 30 to October 2, for an up-close look at the buildings and private residences of the Olivetti UNESCO heritage site in Ivrea, which will be open to the public on an exclusive basis as part of the WELC-HOME TO MY HOUSE architecture exhibition. Floornature is media partner of the event.

"Olivetti e l'arte: Jean Michel Folon" exhibition in Ivrea
The exhibition entitled "Olivetti e l'arte: Jean Michel Folon", on at the P. A. Garda Civic Museum in Ivrea is part of a multi-year programme of initiatives organised by the Museum and the Associazione Archivio Storico Olivetti, providing a great opportunity to visit Ivrea, the Industrial City of the 20th century and the 54th UNESCO World Heritage Site in Italy, combining art and architecture.

Murals for Ivrea, added to UNESCO World Heritage List as an industrial city of the 20th century
Ivrea, added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2018 as an industrial city of the 20th century, has been embellished with a series of murals on various buildings. A sign that clearly demonstrates the importance of street art in urban regeneration, following the humanistic spirit of Ivrea's famous industrialist Adriano Olivetti.

“Il Generale”, a home in Ivrea designed by Archisbang, is a renovation project balancing respect for the layout of the original building with limitation of the need for demolition and improvement of energy efficiency, while giving the building a bold new look that stands out in contrast with the other homes in the neighbourhood.

Architecture Festival in Italy: the winning events
The Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity and Urban Regeneration of Italy’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism has supported an initiative aimed at developing awareness of the importance of contemporary architecture among the public and promoting quality architecture to aid the country’s civil, social and economic progress: the "Architecture Festival" competition saw the selection of seven winning projects for seven events held in the month of September 2020.

Ivrea as UNESCO World Heritage Site
Italy now has its 54th UNESCO World Heritage Site, “Ivrea industrial city of the 20th century”, an acknowledgement of the entire system based on Adriano Olivetti’s humanistic concept, not just the individual buildings. Floornature’s editorial team has been keeping up with the entire process of acknowledgement, from candidacy onwards, recorded in photographs by Gianluca Giordano.
