"Resilient Communities”, architecture as caregiver in the Cyberwall installations at the Venice Biennale

In a recent interview Alessandro Melis, curator of the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, explains the significance of the "Resilient Communities" project and talks about some interesting sections of the exhibition. Among these, "Architecture as caregiver", section featuring projects in which architecture becomes a means of ensuring our well-being and health. Some key examples are the Cyberwall and Cyberwall II installations, made with Active ceramic surfaces developed by the Iris Ceramica Group and customised by architect Alessandro Melis himself, thanks to Design Your Slabs, the Group’s innovative technique that makes it possible to transfer any image or illustration onto large ceramic formats. The use of Active Surfaces, in other words surfaces with antibacterial and antiviral, anti-pollution, anti-odour and self-cleaning properties, render the Cyberwall installations eco-active and able to contribute to a sustainable and resilient future.
