Museion, the new modern and contemporary art museum in Bolzano designed by Berlin architects KSV Krüger, Schuberth and Vandreike, has been awarded one of the GranitiFiandre special prizes in the 2010/2011 Dedalo Minosse Prize.

KSV Krüger, Schuberth, Vandreike - Museion The modern and contemporary art museum in Bolzano designed by architects KSV Krüger, Schuberth and Vandreike of Berlin is a cube with two transparent façades.

The glass wall allows the museum to show passersby what it contains and makes its contents part of the city and a gathering place for the local people.
The functions distributed over different floors are connected by a cascade staircase starting in the foyer and ending on the top level with a panoramic view of the city and the landscape.

Art and educational workshops, exhibition spaces and a library are joined via a flexible system of mobile walls.
The bridge with its two separate paths for bicycles and pedestrians is a spatial sculpture made up of two parallel curves of metal and glass. Its playful shape recalls the geometry of the landscape and the pure forms of the museum.
The museum garden, intended as an exhibition space and site for artistic performances, contains a second building on its northern side which is separate from the museum, containing artists’ studios and offices.
