WAF 2022 begins in Lisbon with Floornature and the Iris Ceramica Group
The World Architecture Festival has brought together the community of architects from all over the world in various cities since 2008, attracting thousands of architects, designers and suppliers and offering an excellent opportunity for networking. This year, the Floornature portal and the Iris Ceramica Group will be involved in two very important competitions, expressing the group’s great interest in all aspects of creativity.
The competitions are the The Architecture Drawing Prize (ADP) and the The Architectural Photography Awards (APA). The ADP prize is presented in partnership by Make Architects, Sir John Soane’s Museum in London and the WorldArchitecture Festival (WAF) with the sponsorship of the Iris Ceramica Group and Floornature as its European media partner. On 31 October, winners were announced in each of the award’s three categories encouraging reflection and exploration of how design continues to mark progress in the art of contemporary architecture, embracing creative use of digital tools and digitally produced renderings.
"The Spirit of Mountain“ by Weicheng Ye was proclaimed winner in the Hand-drawn category, while Samuel Wen’s "Fitzroy Food Institute" won in the Hybrid category, and the winner of the Digital category was "The Wall“ by Anton Markus Pasing. Visitors to the World Architecture Festival in Lisbon will be able to see the shortlisted works and the winners on exhibit. The overall winner of the 2022 edition will be announced at the opening of The Architecture Drawing Prize exhibition at Sir John Soane's Museum in London, which will be open from 8 February to 7 May 2023. A press conference will be held on Friday, 2 December at the Architecture Drawing Prize stand at the WAF.
The other competition in which the Iris Ceramica Group is involved is the prestigious Architectural Photography Awards. The first phase in the assessment process took place in September, when the British judges met in the Iris Ceramica showroom in London’s Clerkenwell district. The shortlisted candidates’ works are exhibited at the World Architecture Festival (WAF), where delegates will be able to vote for their favourites.
The overall winner of The Architectural Photography Awards 2022 will be selected from among the four main categories, which are: Exterior, Interior, Sense of Place, and Buildings in Use. A separate prize is offered for a portfolio focusing on the theme of Transport Hubs, as well as a prize in the mobile photography category, Bridges. The winners will be announced on the evening of Friday, 2 December 2022 and will be presented with a total of 4,250 dollars in prizes, as well as an opportunity to exhibit their images before delegates visiting the WAF.
Floornature and the Iris Ceramica Group wish all the entrants good luck, and will be announcing the winners in the News section of our portal.
