Casa Encinos by APT, a fusion of form and function respectful of the local context
With Casa Encinos, Architect Lilian Rebollo from the APT arquitectura para todos studio has created a small architectural gem that respects the breathtaking natural context of the Santo Domingo Ocotitlán village situated in the El Tepozteco National Park, in Mexico. The use of local materials, techniques and labour makes the project particularly sustainable.

In harmony with nature, Casa Entrecopas by Marina Vella
Peruvian architect Marina Vella has designed Casa Entrecopas, a home that draws both inspiration and materiality from its location: the interior of a large historical farm located North of Lima, in Peru. Thanks to the construction techniques and to the local materials used, the result is an architecture that is intrinsically sustainable and in close harmony with the idyllic surrounding landscape.

Stage and natural show in Yangshuo
The Chinese design firm IILab. has completed the new architecture for the natural backdrop of the open-air theatre hosting the musical called “Impression of Liu Sanjie” in Yangshuo, Guilin, known for its stunning landscape. The bamboo constructions are environmentally-friendly and emphasise the connection with the context.

Maison Koya, living with several generations in touch with nature
Canadian studio Alain Carle Architecte has built a house in Saint-Saveur in the Laurentian Mountains north of Montreal, which blends in perfectly with the surrounding nature and enables the whole family of three generations to live together. Everything is designed to foster dialogue with the context as well as amongst the family, while still maintaining everyone’s individual privacy.

Goldkammer Frankfurt, telling the story of gold
The Goldkammer, Frankfurt’s chamber of gold, is one of the most modern museums in Europe. The underground system of treasure chambers designed by Frankfurt-based architecture firm AS+P Albert Speer + Partner and the exhibition designers at merz merz Architekten from Berlin showcases more than 500 objects in a spectacular environment.

UK firm John Puttick Associates has designed a rather unusual piece of architecture, a mourners’ shelter on the grounds of the North Watford Cemetery, in south-east England. The cedar shingle clad building is almost sculptural in shape and creates a physical and spiritual gathering place.
