2015 Serpentine Pavilion by Selgas Cano Architecture

The Serpentine Pavilion project is 15 years old! The temporary pavilion built in the gardens of the Serpentine Gallery attracts thousands of visitors every year, and is a long-awaited event on the London cultural scene in summer and one of the world’s top 10 architecture and design exhibition sites in terms of the number of visitors.
The first pavilion was designed by Zaha Hadid in 2000; since then numerous prominent international architects have designed a summer pavilion for the Serpentine Gallery, includingFrank Gehry in 2008; Rem Koolhaas and Cecil Balmond, with Arup, in 2006; Oscar Niemeyer, in 2003; Daniel Libeskind with Arup, in 2001, and more recently, Peter Zumthor in 2011, Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei in 2012, Sou Fujimoto in 2013 and architect Smiljan Radic in 2014.

The pavilion marking the event’s 15th birthday will be designed by Spanish architects José Selgas and Lucía Cano, founders of Selgas Cano Architecture: the first pavilion built by Spanish architects.
