When architect Gino Vallepassed away in 2003, the helm of the Valle Architetti Associati practice was taken over by Pietro Valle and his mother Piera Valle Ricci Menichetti. The architectural practice recently completed an office/retail building and a multi-storey carpark on the former Cledca site in Padua. The lot stands on a bend in the River Piovego, a strategic location which acts as a gateway to the town and connects its historic centre and more recent part.
The project is part of the urban planning guidelines which Gino Valle drew up for the Commune of Padua. It includes two separate buildings, an office block and a carpark, with different architectural styles and forms. Thecarpark features curved terraces in dark red fair-faced concrete. Theoffice/retail block is long and narrow with a long colonnade; it is covered with a ventilated wall in dark grey stone on the ground floor and in light grey for the upper floors.
