The SapienStone Truck, presenting the Iris Ceramica Group’s new brand specialising in top quality porcelain kitchen countertops, is an unusual travelling showroom taking the excellence of Italian manufacture and design on a European tour.
You can virtually follow the truck with the #AroundTheTop hashtag, but travel is all about exchanging knowledge and comparing cultures, and so let us follow the SapienStone truck in our imaginations and rediscover a number of architectural projects in Spain through the pages of Floornature and Livegreenblog.
After presenting the truck at Espacio-Cocina-SICI in Valencia, it will stop until March 4 in Novelda in the province of Alicante before continuing on to Madrid, Gaztelu-Elexabeitia-Bilbao and Barcelona.
So let’s start by looking at architectural projects in Alicante, and specifically an urban project by Bg-Studio of Valencia: the "Pasarela del Postiguet", a pedestrian walkway that has re-established a pedestrian connection between the city centre and the waterfront. Alicante is also home to a Psycho-social Rehabilitation Centre built by Otxotorena Arquitectos, while in the same province, the City Auditorium in Teulada designed by architect Francisco Mangado creates a bridge between the towns of Teulada, on the mountain slope, and Moraira, on the coast.
March 6 and 7 the SapienStone Truck will be in Madrid; among the many noteworthy projects in Spanish capital, we suggest taking a look at the Red Bull Music Academy by Langarita-Navarro Arquitectos, winner of the special mention for emerging architects at the Mies van der Rohe Award, the European Union prize for contemporary architecture. Closing with stops in Bilbao (March 9-10) and Barcelona (March 13-14), cities for which we have published recommended itineraries in Floornature.
