Stefano Boeri Architetti designs new entrance to the Domus Aurea
The Stefano Boeri Architetti studio has designed the new entrance to the Domus Aurea and the pedestrian walkway to access the Octagonal Hall in Rome, which will allow visitors to step directly into the heart of this Roman architecture. An autonomous and self-supporting intervention, respectful of the important archaeological remains and which, with its gradual descent, allows visitors to discover the historical stratifications of these exceptional underground spaces.

Città Sospese - Siti Italiani UNESCO nei giorni del lockdown Exhibition
In the long months of spring 2020, while millions of people were confined to their homes complying with the restrictions imposed by authorities to ensure the containment of the Covid-19 pandemic, photographers from the Italian Ministry of Culture travelled to 11 Italian cities recognised as UNESCO heritage sites, to capture a valuable visual testimony of this unprecedented historical moment experienced by Italy's cities of art, with the typical bustling streets devoid of tourists and locals.

Foster + Partners designs Apple Store in Via del Corso in Rome
On May 27 the new Apple store located in Via del Corso in Rome opened its doors. The project designed by the Foster + Partners architectural firm, in collaboration with the Apple Creative Team, has brought Palazzo Marignoli back to life, a historic building originally constructed in 1873 by architect Salvatore Bianchi and later subjected to an extensive renovation by architect Giulio Podesti.

Studiotamat’s Tre de tutto: a trendy restaurant in Rome
"Tre de tutto" is a trendy new restaurant designed by architects Tommaso Amato, Matteo Soddu and Valentina Paiola of STUDIOTAMAT in Rome’s Garbatella district. The architects worked on the premises of a historic local bakery in a piazza immortalised in a scene in Nanni Moretti’s film "Caro Diario" (“Dear Diary”). The architects use a few carefully chosen key elements to create a trendy restaurant that does not deny but celebrates its ties with Roman traditions and with the neighbourhood.

“La Festa dell’Architetto” and school architecture as a project for the future
The 2020 edition of the "Festa dell’Architetto", postponed due to the pandemic, takes place with live streaming January 27 through 29, 2021. Organised by Italy’s National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists (Consiglio Nazionale degli Architetti, Pianificatori, Paesaggisti e Conservatori or CNAPPC) and the country’s network of provincial orders of architects, the event promotes the culture of design and underlines architecture’s social function. The CNAPPC’s virtual museum will be inaugurated during the event, and the awards for “Architetto italiano” (Italian Architect), “ Giovane Talento dell'Architettura Italiana” (Young Talent in Italian Architecture) and a Special Prize entitled “(Ri)progettare la scuola con le nuove generazioni post Covid-19 ” ((Re)designing the school with the new post Covid-19 generations) will be awarded.

The new Rome offices of EY, a company specialising in business consulting services, are designed by DEGW, a Lombardini22 brand, in a project based on the image of a beehive, suggesting the company’s structured organisation and hardworking ethic while reflecting EY’s brand identity through the corporate colours yellow and black.

Isaac Julien pays tribute to Lina Bo Bardi – Un meraviglioso groviglio at Maxxi in Rome
"Lina Bo Bardi – Un meraviglioso groviglio" is a tribute to the Italo-Brazilian architect by British artist and filmmaker Isaac Julien. The film installation and photo series presented in the exhibition, curated by Luigia Lonardelli, are on view until 17 January 2021 at MAXXI, the National Museum of XXI Century Arts in Rome.

AT HOME 20.20 Exhibition - Projects for contemporary living at the MAXXI Museum in Rome
The "AT HOME 20.20" exhibition, on at the MAXXI Museum in Rome until November 1, opened its doors to the public with a new focus that takes into account the recent pandemic experience and the manner in which the latter has changed the way we experience domestic spaces. The Museum also extended this relevant reflection on the post COVID-19 home to its first digital Casa Mondo exhibition, set up and curated by the Formafantasma studio and created exclusively for Instagram.
