John McAslan draws on years of experience with adaptive reuse projects in the renovation and expansion of the Burrell Collection in Glasgow. The changes to the building, constructed in 1983, are not particularly evident, but the exhibition route has been revitalised and the building’s energy efficiency improved.

In Oksbøl, south-western Denmark, the “FLUGT” refugee museum designed by the BIG architecture studio was recently inaugurated. The name of the museum in Danish means “escape”.

A wide range of content and images permit construction of an interactive itinerary for discovering the Iris Ceramica Group’s history. The latest project created by The Urban Conga studio is a programmable open-ended space for the Chapel Hill community and the Ackland Art Museum located at the University of North Carolina. The studio designed the pARC spatial intervention through a series of participatory design workshops with community stakeholders and museum representatives.

For M., the new Museum for Immersive Art in Almere, the Netherlands, Alessandra Covini and Giovanni Belloti, the young duo behind Studio Ossidiana, created an experimental project. A floating pavilion that appeals to all the senses and refers to the Dutch city's tradition, built on reclaimed land where the Zuiderzee once stood.

Cultural Initiatives and New Museums in Qatar
Starting 21 November, the 2022 Football World Cup will take place in Qatar. The sports event will be preceded and accompanied throughout the year by important events. In particular, Qatar Museums has announced a wide-ranging programme of cultural initiatives, including the inauguration of the MIA, the Doha Museum of Islamic Art designed by 1983 Pritzker Prize-winning architect Ieoh Ming Pei, and exhibitions on the new museums designed by Elemental, Herzog & de Meuron and OMA.
