gmp designs Stade de Luxembourg sports stadium with strong visual identity

The Stade de Luxembourg designed by architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp studio) opened its doors to sports fans in autumn 2021. The architects faced a number of major challenges in designing Luxembourg's new stadium, including being able to recreate the atmosphere of a large football arena even with a small sports facility with a capacity of only 9,900 seats, thus far from the standards of large international stadiums. The strong visual identity of the stadium reflects the building's architecture with its striking façade.

The Alter Wall 2-32 renovation project by gmp von Gerkan, Marg and Partners Architects brings new life to central Hamburg. Historic buildings have been renovated to give the city new spaces and pedestrian zones, while uncovering and revealing architectural elements that had been hidden as the buildings were changed over the years.

Lines of thought Meinhard von Gerkan exhibition in Riga

The exhibition underway at St.Peter's Church in Riga celebrates gmp’s fiftieth anniversary and its founder Meinhard von Gerkan’s eightieth birthday, presenting more than 150 original sketches of a selection of 46 of the 390 or more projects the studio has built over its long history.

Gmp Stadio Olimpico Berlino Premio IAKS All Time Award

The annual IAKS convention, held October 27 through 30 in Cologne, marked the 50th anniversary of the organisation's foundation by establishing the IAKS All Time Award, presented to architecture for sports that has had a major impact on subsequent constructions, such as the renovation of Berlin Olympic Stadium performed in the years 2000 through 2004 by architectural practice gmp.
