The winners of the Italian Architecture Award and T Young Claudio De Albertis Award

Maria Giuseppina Grasso Cannizzo’s LCM 2018 / CASA-ASILO project (Mazzarone, Catania, 2018) and Simona Della Rocca of BDR bureau’s Enrico Fermi School project (Turin, 2019) are the winners of this year’s Italian Architecture Award and T Young Claudio De Albertis Award for young Italian architects, respectively. Paolo Portoghesi was unanimously awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.

No Architects: Redevelopment of Malvína nursery in Karlín

In Prague’s Karlín district, No Architects transformed the spaces of a nursery into an immersive project on a child’s scale. The new layout of No Architects’ Malvina kindergarten is based on different functions and times of day for the children and on painstaking attention to detail.

SeArch: Daycare centre for children on Ötztaler Straße, Stuttgart

Stuttgart-based firm SeArch has been commissioned by the city government to design a children’s daycare centre to replace the old complex in the Untertürkheim neighbourhood, which is no longer functional. For Stefanie and Stephan Eberding, the references are the Art Nouveau style of the adjacent school building and the back garden.

Vallet de Martinis Architectes two new schools in Noyon, France

Two schools designed by Vallet de Martinis Architectes were completed recently in Noyon: two independent structures inspired by the same design principles, such as choice of brick as the key construction material to echo the two buildings’ urban surroundings.

MAD Architects YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten, Beijing

MAD Architects’ YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten is an example of intergenerational integration from China. The kindergarten commissioned by the Yuecheng Group is located next to a seniors’ home in Beijing, a situation permitting integration of preschool education with seniors’ care in a surreal structure that inspires children to think, reflect and pursue endless possibilities.

Alvisi Kirimoto Multi-purpose Civic Center, Childcare Center and Park, Rome

Work has begun in via Grotta Perfetta, Rome on the multi-purpose Civic Center, Library and Childcare Center for 60 children with outside green spaces, designed by Alvisi Kirimoto architects practice. Completion is scheduled for January 2023. The project by Alvisi Kirimoto architects studio won the two-stage international design competition "Meno è Più 4” (Less is More 4) organized by Rome’s municipal authority, in 2007.

Kindergarten in Sluderno by Roland Baldi Architects

Roland Bald Architects has designed a kindergarten in Sluderno, South Tyrol. Sustainable architecture that develops around an ample, brightly lit foyer, all designed to suit the scale of children who here take their first independent steps outside the family. The building is the recipient of the CasaClima A environmental certificate.
