The opening ceremony for Italcementi?s new "i.lab", a Research and Innovation Centre designed by architect Richard Meier, was followed by a series of meetings with 4 important representatives of the world of international architecture: Odile Decq, Zhang Ke (co-founder of Standardarchitecture), Mario Cucinella and Daniel Libeskind.

The new research centre was constructed in the Kilometro Rosso scientific and technological park designed by Jean Nouvel in Bergamo in 2007.
The 23,000 square metre research centre on 5 levels, 3 of which are underground, will contain an auditorium, conference halls and, of course, laboratories for research in the field of new construction materials.

The building is constructed in accordance with the strictest energy conservation and eco-sustainability standards and has been awarded "LEED platinum" certification.
