Pitsou Kedem Architects + Baranowitz-Amit Design Studio - Taizu Restaurant
Israeli architect Pitsou Kedem and his studio worked with interior designers Sigal Baranowitz and Gali Amit (Baranowitz-Amit Design Studio) on Taizu - Asia Terranean Kitchen restaurant in Tel Aviv.
The principles inspiring the project are the five elements of Chinese philosophy (fire, water, metal, wood and earth) and, of course, food itself. The restaurant interior evokes five Asian countries: India, China, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, the sources of the menus offered by chef Yuval Ben Neria.
The design solutions and materials used in the project divide the space into five main areas with different purposes. The lounge, for example, is a casual space with a long slate counter and tall stools inspired by traditional Asian diners where "street food" is served. The main dining rooms and patio are more formal spaces furnished with custom-designed furniture and lamps.
