One Plus Partnership Ltd’s design for the Cine Times cinema in Hong Kong pays homage to the origins of film.

One Plus Partnership Cine Times interior for cinema

A few minimal elements and a colour scheme limited to black and white: this just about describes the project by the architects of One Plus Partnership Ltd, Ajax Law and Virginia Lung, for the Cine Times in Hong Kong.
The project pays homage to the roots of cinema in an age of rapid change when new technologies are offering us new ways to make use of images and video.

The colour scheme reminds visitors of black and white films. The white walls broken up by slender black stripes represent the film itself. The led lighting features a series of spotlights of different lengths and inclinations to create contrasts of light and shadow in every space.
The project is among the finalists for the Inside Festival World Interior of the Year 2014 in the public buildings category, and also received the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design category.
