NextLandmark International Contest 2018: Venice, Hospitality Interior Design

Next Landmark, the contest by architecture and design portal Floornature.com, published by theIris Ceramica Group and aimed at new generations of architects and designers, is now in its seventh edition. It is an important appointment with a contest that has appeared in a new form in every edition, and now returns to offer a trip to Venice, where everything started with the first edition of 2012 as a prize. Over its six editions the contest has had important partners who will continue to participate in the seventh edition, like the Masters Degree in Creativity and Communication Design(MSTC) at IUSVE Venice-Verona University, or the magazine The Plan, a media partner since the first edition. There is a prestigious new partnership for 2018: Eataly world FICO (Fabbrica Italiana Contadina), a concrete and avant-garde example of hospitality dedicated to Italian food and agriculture.

FICO, the world’s largest agri-food park, is the exceptional location that will host the prize-giving ceremony. It is a choice that fits well with the theme of the seventh edition: “Hospitality Interior Design”. As the title suggests, the contest is reserved for: interior design dedicated to hospitality and conviviality. Designs for hotels, restaurants, bars and unconventional refreshment spaces created after 1st January 2010 are eligible to compete. As well as the contest’s consolidated mission to “highlight and recognise the merit of research and innovative projects, in order to offer the possibility of success to new generations of architecture and design creatives by promoting their visions and proposals for contemporary living ”, there is the same commitment as last year’s edition to reserve a specific section of LANDMARK OF THE YEAR 2018 to those who have already taken part in at least one Next Landmark. This was introduced in the2017 competition, won by the ellevuelle Architetti studio, to support and incentivise the creation of acommunity of designers open to contemporary architectural debate. The formula of previous editions remains the same, with the contest taking place exclusively online, with free entry. Entrants can register and submit designs by 30th June 2018 at the dedicated website: floornature.com/nextlandmark/subscribe and, as previously announced, there are two prize categories:
HOSPITALITY INTERIOR DESIGN, open to all architecture and design creatives, and LANDMARK OF THE YEAR 2018. mentioned above.

In order to offer “an opportunity to professionals with a declared interested in society, to support their work and career development” and to show commitment once again to contributing virtuously to promoting a community of designers, the award reserved for the winners of the Landmark of the Year category will also have a double page article in the international architecture magazine The Plan. Winners of both categories will receive a prize of four nights’ holiday in Venice (including transport and accommodation in a hotel for two people for three nights) and 2 entrance tickets to the International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2018; as well as a NEXT LANDMARK INTERNATIONAL CONTEST 2018 winner’s certificate. The winning designs will also be displayed in an installation specially created for the awards ceremony at FICO Eataly World, and published in all online media of the Iris Ceramica Group.
