Milan’s Palazzo della Ragione now has a new purpose as a container for photography exhibitions and events.
The event inaugurating the building in its new form is the Genesis exhibition, the latest new project by famous photographer Sebastião Salgado, open to the public until November 2 2014.
Exhibition curator Lélia Wanick Salgado has put together 245 black and white images in a photographic itinerary covering the entire planet earth, “a visual tribute to a fragile planet which we all have a duty to protect” (Lélia Wanick Salgado).
The project is the result of the Brazilian photographer's work since 2003 documenting and representing places on earth where people live in harmony with their natural environment. The exhibition is divided into five sections, corresponding to the different areas where Salgado took his photographs: the South of the Planet, the Sanctuaries of Nature, Africa, The Great North, Amazonia and the Pantanàl.
