Zaha Hadid Architects designed the headquarters of Bee'ah, an environmental services and integrated waste management company in Sharjah, UAE, to look like an artificial dune, a curvaceous volume modelled by the wind, just like the desert it stands in. The animation produced by MIR Creative Studios for Zaha Hadid Architects represents the building starting with a night view of the exterior and continuing inside, where sound and light effects accompany and underline architectural elements.
The client wanted a building for its headquarters that would offer a concrete example of sustainable architecture for the community. The building becomes an architectural transposition of the founding principles of the company’s mission. A project designed to withstand the harsh desert environment and climate, limiting the number of windows and openings directly exposing it to the sun. An architectural volume modelled by the wind and conveying it into its interior to provide natural ventilation for the spaces. Where architectural and structural solutions limit consumption of materials and make use of recycled materials.
