March Studio Hotel Hotel World Interior of the Year 2015

The hall of the Hotel Hotel in Canberra, Australia, designed by architectural practice March Studio, was named World Interior of the Year 2015 on the final evening of the INSIDE - World Festival of Interiors. The interior design event is part of the World Festival of Architecture (WAF), an annual event held at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore for the last time this year.
The World Festival of Architecture, considered one of the most important contemporary architecture and design events in the world, comes back to Europe in 2016 and will be held in Berlin for the next four years.

The hotel designed by March Studio is part of a complex also including offices, homes, cafés and cinemas. The judges’ attention was captured specifically by the entrance hall, with its fragmentary character giving a unique look to the construction and proposing "poetic" use of a waste material.
The hall is covered with a series of wooden boards, broken lines that create a tunnel effect to welcome guests and guide them from the reception desk to key areas in the hotel; the conclusion of the route and key point in the composition is the big staircase leading up to the hotel rooms on two floors.
