The Triennale Design Museum dedicates an exhibition to Chilean architect and painter Sebastián Matta.

Casamatta exhibition
An eclectic artist, considered one of the top painters of our day, Chilean architect and painter Sebastián Matta worked in contact with key 20th century intellectuals such as Le Corbusier and Gropius.
The Triennale Design Museum is holding an exhibition of his works curated by Johnny Dell’Orto, in an installation ideally reproducing the interior of Matta?s home.
A voyage through the artist?s career.

The architect and painter?s eclectic production includes furniture and objects for everyday use as well as works of art such as sculptures and paintings. Sebastián Matta focused on painting in particular after 1934, the year he moved to Paris.

This ideal home is furnished with chairs, sofas, benches, lamps, wardrobes and beds designed by Sebastián Matta, halfway between design, art and crafts, made using and experimenting with different materials such as wood, metal and resin. The installation is completed with household objects such as dishes, decorated vases and little ceramic sculptures also produced by Matta as well as a number of his paintings.
