- Highlights of the 2016 Architecture Biennale

A month after the end of the Architecture Biennale closed its doors, we want to showcase some of the photos, a few of which unpublished, that photographer Gianluca Giordano took for our Floornature portal during the preview in May. A stroll that takes us to the Biennale Giardini, with a detailed look at the Central Pavilion, to the Arsenale and all its many facts, including the internal rooms showcasing visually striking multimedia and analogue ideas, as well as the outdoor installations of course.
Then there are photos of Palazzo Mora, one of the three locations of the Time-Space-Existence exhibition organised by the European Cultural Centre and collateral events of the Biennale: a platform where architects and photographers can submit their work and their research.
One of the twenty photographers on exhibition was Ricardo Oliveira Alves, known to our readers for his architecture photography, and displaying two large-format works with UV print on Dibond: St. Peter’s Basilica and Casa in Colares II, Sintra, by Frederico Valsassina Architects. Two completely different subjects and eras providing a narrative of a single theme: the eternal beauty of architecture.
The photos we selected portray in order:
Arsenale China – Arsenale Italy Pavilion Taking Care – Arsenale interiors – Arsenale Slovenia participation – Arsenale “Losing myself” Ireland – Arsenale external installation – Giardini Central Pavilion - Giardini Central Pavilion – Palazzo Mora Ricardo Oliveira Alves – Palazzo Mora installation - Arsenale exterior Italy Pavilion
