Haus Matthiasgärten, senior living in Berlin The “Haus Mattiasgärten” facility of the advita association that provides services and care for the elderly recently opened in the Friedrichshain district in Berlin. It was built by Kondor Wessels at the entrance of the Volkspark park and near the Vivantes Klinikum hospital.

Creating living spaces that meet the different needs of seniors is one of the great challenges of our times, considering that the population's average age is increasing and the social structure is also changing; families are much less likely to look after and care for their senior citizens.
To this end, “Haus Matthiasgärten”, a 48-apartment residential building with no architectural barriers, where each unit is between 25 and 53 square metres and the facilities include community spaces and “on demand” healthcare on the ground and mezzanine floors writes a whole new chapter for this category of architecture. The developer Kondor Wessels GmbH had actually sold all the apartments in the facility far ahead of its completion just a few weeks ago.
Haus Matthiasgärten elegantly fits into the urban context of the Friedrichshain district, which boasts cafés, boutiques and a well distributed and consolidated social fabric. The 3200-square metre, six-floor architectural complex includes a courtyard and green roof terrace, seeking visual and real vicinity to the environment, particularly the Vivantes health clinic and the Volkspark park, as well as being an intrinsically sustainable building. Indeed, its insulation responds to the EnEV 2014 energy saving decree, and it is a “KfW-Effizienzhaus 70” class energy performance building.
Haus Matthiasgärten from Kondor Wessels for advita, the association that provides services and care for the elderly, stands out in all its beauty in the photographs by Ken Schluchtmann who reveals this bright, streamlined building to us.
