Albabel Restaurant, interior design by Masquespacio

A restaurant that is reminiscent of its owners' homeland: the Albabel near Valencia is a project by Masquespacio, the creative consultancy of Ana Milena Hernandéz Palacios and Christophe Penasse and its interior design is the narrative of a typical Andalusian atmosphere.


One of the major challenges facing every architect, designer and creative artist is to bring alive the dreams of their clients. It's no different for Ana Milena Hernandéz Palacios and Christophe Penasse from Spanish-based creative studio Masquespacio, specialising in interior design and branding for years, with a focus on the world of food service.
This time the pair worked in Picaña, a small Spanish town not far from Valencia, where their brief was to completely refurbish the Albabel pizzeria of Antonio and Rafael Ramirez, which has been operating for 20 years. The client brief was not just for a general revamp of the venue's 100 square metres, but a project that would clearly tell the story of their Andalusian background to greet customers with the typical welcoming atmosphere of their homeland. The idea is also reflected in the dishes, where the new concept envisages a fusion of Mediterranean and Andalusian cuisine with an international bent.
The creatives from Masquespacio have added this personal touch with elegance and without falling into the trap of stereotypes, first of all going with the typical materials of Andalusia such as clay bricks, plants, raffia and colourful decorations. From the lighting to the furniture designed by Masquespacio, each and every item has been enhanced by the artisan skill of the people who crafted them for an interior that welcomes diners with a contemporary feel.
The work of Masquespacio has turned the Albabel restaurant into a light-filled, positive eatery, where the owners and guests can all feel at home. The best grounding to enjoy the excellent culinary delights!
