Architecture for culture

As we prepare for our summer travels, here is a quick overview of cultural projects in different parts of the world covered in the pages of Floornature.
Let us start with Sun Moon Lake Visitor Centre by Japanese studio Norihiko Dan and Associates, a project reflecting on architecture’s relationship with the morphology of the land, built on the northern coast of Lake Sun Moon, one of the principal tourist attractions on the island of Taiwan.

In the United States, the new San Francisco Museum of Modern Art opened recently. Designed by Mario Botta in 1995, the museum has been expanded with a new construction by architectural practice Snøhetta. Other projects in Europe include Kimen Cultural Centre designed by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter (RRA) in Norway and Musée Soulages in Rodez, France by RCR Arquitectes of Spain.

European Cup Football may be just about over, but the FIFA Football World Museum designed by SAM Architekten und Partner AG opened in February 2016 in Zurich .
Projects in Italy include the Messner Mountain Museum Corones designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the last of six museums about the mountains based on an idea by famous Italian mountain-climber Reinhold Messner.
We conclude with a project currently under construction: the MuRéNA museum designed by Foster + Partners and the four museums not to be missed on Livegreenblog.
