The winners of the ARCHMARATHON Awards 2017

The 12th – 14th October 2017 saw the 4th edition of the ARCHMARATHON Awards, a special edition focussing on the architecture studios working in the USA, Canada, and Central and Latin America . The final stages of the Awards were hosted at the Faena Forum in Miami. In the exclusive building designed by OMA for Miami’s new arts and fashion district, the architect finalists chosen by an international jury presented their projects to an interested audience of mainly architecture professionals, developers and designers from all over the world. Fiandre Architectural Surfaces through Transceramica, the company that distributes the brand in the USA, sponsored the'ARCHMARATHON Awards, confirming the company’s commitment to the spread of good practices in architecture in various countries and settings.

At the end of the event, the international Main Jury, made up of Luca Molinari, David Basulto, David Assael and Francisco Pardo, and the Grand Jury made up of Sebastian Salvat and Alejandro Paredes Fontanals, announced the winners of the eight award categories, including the overall winner .

The overall winner 2017 as well as the winner of the MOVING, Infrastructure & Transportation Landscape & Open Spaces, category was the Common Unit project by architects Rozana Montiel +Alin V. Wallach. The jury particularly appreciated how the architects managed to create a community building by transforming boundaries and limits into opportunities for meeting and for a better quality of life.
