Previews of the future: MAD unveils its plans for Shenzhen Bay Culture Park
MAD Architects, under architect Ma Yansong, has revealed the masterplan for Shenzhen Bay Culture Park, which will also include the Creative Design Hall and Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum. The architect models the green area to create a work of land art in a park that serves the design of the buildings while offering the public a visionary concept of the city in which to establish a new way of perceiving space and time.

Premio Italiano di Architettura 2020 Award for Lifetime Achievement assigned to Renzo Piano
Triennale di Milano and Maxxi, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome, with the support of MiBACT, the Italian culture ministry, held the first edition of Premio Italiano di Architettura, the Italian Prize for Architecture, in 2020. The first prize to be presented is the Award for Lifetime Achievement, which goes to Renzo Piano, the 1998 Pritzker Prize winning architect with a life-long appointment to the Italian senate. The awards ceremony will be held at Maxxi in Rome on June 30, on the occasion of the opening of the YAP Rome at MAXXI 2020 project, when the winners in the categories for the best built projects will be announced.

Back to the Present, new installation at the Städel in Frankfurt
Almost ten years after completing its new, iconic subterranean halls, the Städel Museum in Frankfurt, Germany has reorganised its collection of contemporary art displaying works from 1945 to now. It’s a new presentation called Back to the Present - New Perspectives, New Works - The Collection from 1945 to the Present.

Mallol Arquitectos’ Museo de la Libertad
Mallol Arcquitectos, Central America’s most important architectural studio, has completed a project of great symbolic value, Panama’s Museo de la Libertad y los Derechos Umanos. Funded by the Democracia y Libertad foundation, the museum contains a large interactive permanent exhibition on three floors, plus administrative offices. The building is the first in a complex that will contain three volumes when completed, located to the west of the city next to a park full of trees, which have all been preserved, and employs passive ventilation techniques made possible by the area’s temperate climate.

Floating melodies: the CROX’s Liyang Museum
In the city of Liyang, in eastern China, architecture and landscape design studio CROX has completed an impressive public building: Liyang Museum, the city’s new key landmark, not so much for its 12,000 metres of floor space as for its unique futuristic shape, designed specifically for the volume containing the museum. The plans were on display in the “Time Space Existence” exhibition at the 2018 Biennale in Venice.

Five years since The Broad opened in Los Angeles
Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler, The Broad is a contemporary art museum in Los Angeles that opened in September 2015. The LEED Gold-certified architecture is launching celebrations for its fifth anniversary by naming its outdoor plaza for its long-time Leading Partner, East West Bank.
